Paintless Dent Repair
What is Paintless Dent Removal?
Paintless Dent Repair, usually referred to as PDR is an art as much as it is a skill. It is implemented both for hail damage which can be a scary thing when you look at an automobile that has been through a hail storm, and for every day dings and dents that happen from cars in parking areas, small run ins with posts, small fender benders and baseballs. PDR is the art of removing dents with heat, rolling tools and small tapping tools and is more than competitive with conventional body shop repair businesses.
Is all car body repair fixable with PDR?
To be honest, no. We look for the paint to be undamaged or at least not split away from the surface. Creasing can be an issue and there is a point with these two factors that the work will be beyond the scope of what PDR is capable of.
Is all hail damage fixable?
We can pretty much fix most hail damage we see. It's basically a wash, rinse, repeat cycle, you see one hail dent, you've seen them all. Size of the ding is the only difference..
I have heard that most damage can be repaired same day, true?
On the average job of two dents, we usually take about 2-3 hours. With hail damage the work is more intense and can take as long as a week, but we do try and do it quicker. How many dents is the prime factor there..
Is PDR guaranteed?
Absolutely. We stand by our work for as long as you own the car.or for no less than five years, whichever is longer. The likelihood of damage recurring on its own is remote as there is no adhesion or sanding to cause rust. .
Does PDR affect the resale value of the car?
Not likely, the work we do is actually restoring the original materials and what we do leaves no residual fillers and mismatched paint to affect anything. In addition, no matter how mush work we do, it does not need to show up as notified work. It's little more than robust car washing.
What is the cost of paintless dent removal?
Generally the cost of PDR is much less than conventional body repair. Without the cost of paint and other materials and the fact that it takes less time we are able to keep costs very affordable. Consider that an average dent will range from $180 to $300, with bigger dents going up to $350 or more. The more dents, the less per dent should also be considered as part of pricing. Hail removal is a little more difficult to price without seeing actual damage or photos but very affordable just the same.. Remember that damage from hail will likely be a comprehensive insurance claim that does not cause your insurance to increase. .
Can most car scratch repair be done mobile?
We think so, unless it's beyond a scratch and is really a gouge or a heavily damaged area. There is a point where mobile paintless ends and the auto-body shop takes over..
Why is paintless dent repair more cost effective than body shops?
A body shop will usually replace a body part that appears damaged and will order a new part, paint it with the best match they can find and it will look good. But the procedure is no better for appearance in the long run and of course, the cost is substantially higher. It could mean the difference between needing and using insurance or not. A big consideration in choosing.
Can I try do-it-yourself dent removal from videos that are available?
DIY- We don't recommend do-it-yourself for the PDR procedure. It can go wrong very quickly without the training and experience collected over the years. Once the initial dent removal does not work, you will have likely incurred more expense to fix the dent(s) than if you had just called the pros in the first place.
